Company History
Transforming Medical Imaging Since 2007
Founded in 2007, Convergent Imaging Solutions revolutionized the medical imaging industry by developing the UniSyn MI™ image fusion module to address the need for enterprise-wide fusion software for PET/CT and SPECT/CT scanners. Initially unveiled at the RSNA trade show, the UniSyn™ module allowed for seamless integration across different platforms, overcoming limitations of vendor-specific systems. In the same year, Convergent partnered with Intelerad Medical Systems to offer its fusion module as a PACS plugin, expanding its reach to Intelerad’s customer base.
Since then, Convergent has continued to innovate, offering a standalone fusion and nuclear medicine processing workstation with enterprise DICOM connectivity, along with PACS plugins to Intelerad, Agfa and Change Healthcare PACS. Today, Convergent Imaging’s software solutions serve thousands of imaging professionals in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, Convergent Imaging Solutions remains a leader in medical image fusion technology.
Our Team
Mathew A. Thomas BSc, MSc
President and Founder
Mathew has spent his entire career in medical physics and imaging, beginning with his first job as a medical physicist, developing and improving radiation planning therapy software. He then worked at a teleradiology startup, then was the R&D Director for a gamma camera startup, where he directed all development activities to deliver a complete camera within two years. He then moved on to Philips, where he was assigned the role of Software Architect and Development Manager of both the Philips Gemini PETCT and Precedence SPECTCT scanners. He delivered both successfully before leaving Philips to join Intelerad as its Software Director, managing the development and growth of the Intelerad PACS, while working part time developing image fusion software for Convergent. Convergent and Intelerad formed a partnership in 2008, and Mathew left to focus solely on Convergent in 2012. Mathew’s skills include software design, project management, medical device regulatory affairs, scanner image acquisition systems, motion control, embedded software design, radiation therapy planning, DICOM databases and enterprise PACS.
